Tennis Slams St. Catharine, 9-0

ST. CATHARINE, Ky. – Tennis slammed St. Catharine by a 9-0 margin as the Bears did not surrender a game en route to the sweep against the Patriots. Each of the six contested matches ended in 8-0 victories for the Bears, while the Patriots forfeited the final two singles spots and the third doubles position.

In the doubles competition, Shawnee State switched up its doubles pairings as Kyra Keeton (SR/Raceland, Ky.) and Karley Stites (FR/South Vienna, Ohio) picked up their first win in their first attempt together at No. 1 singles. Brianna Boggs (FR/Wheelersburg, Ohio) and Shelbie Wulfekamp (JR/Maysville, Ky.) were also victorious in their first outing together at No. 2 doubles. The win was Wulfekamp's 12th career victory in doubles, giving her sole possession of the ninth-most in program history.

Aubrey Johnson (JR/Clarksville, Ohio) and Abbi Morrow (JR/Newark, Ohio) received a walkover victory at No. 3 doubles as St. Catharine has just four players on the roster. Today's victory was the sixth in their time together at No. 3 which gives them sole possession of the top win total amongst all No. 3 doubles pairings in school history. The win was their seventh overall together in doubles, giving them the fourth-most in school history at any position.

With the three wins in doubles and the two walkover wins coming singles, Shawnee State already had the matched clinched and the teams played eight-game pro sets to finish out the day. Keeton picked up her fourth career victory at No. 1 singles to move into a tie for the third-most in program history.

Wulfekamp picked up her 12th career singles victory with the win at No. 2. She now moves into sole possession of ninth place in the SSU record books in career singles victories. She is also tied for ninth in program history with 24 combined wins between singles and doubles.

Stites picked up her first collegiate victory with an 8-0 win in the third singles position. Boggs also picked up her first career victory as she received a walkover win in the fifth slot.

Johnson played the No. 4 singles slot. Her 8-0 win was the fourth victory of her career and the second highest ranked win of her career. Morrow's walkover victory was the fourth of her career. Three of those wins have come at No. 6. She is now 4-1 all-time in singles matches.
