The Shawnee State Baseball Team (16-15) easily handled the Harriers of Miami-Hamilton 24-6 in a non-conference game on Tuesday evening.
After scoring two runs in the first, the Bears extended their lead in the second scoring seven runs including five doubles and a triple to take a commanding 9-1 lead. Shawnee posted six more runs in the third on a grand slam by junior Colin Keim (Clinton, OH) and RBI's by senior Cody Morrison (Spring, TX) and Matt Jones (Greenup, KY).
The Harriers scored a run on the fourth, and the Bears scored five more runs in the fifth on four hits and four runs on four hits in the sixth to extend their lead to 24-2. Miami-Hamilton closed the game scoring four runs in the seventh to fall 24-6 in seven innings.
Shawnee State out slugged the Harriers 19-9 in the game.
Six Bears recorded multiple hits in the win. Morrison finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and two RBI's, while Tyler Weisel (Louisville, OH) and Justin Marerro (Reynoldsburg, OH) each went 2-for-3 with two RBI's. Keim finished 2-for-2 at the plate.
