Freshman Dylan Stevens scored with less than a minute left in regulation to hand the Bears' the 3-2 victory. With the win, Shawnee State improves to 9-8-1 on the season and 4-3 in the MSC and will host Campbellsville in first round of the Mid-South Conference next Saturday with game time to be determined.
The Tigers opened the scoring up in the 24th minute as Jordan Gregory found Taylor Shaver. SSU's junior Chad Johnston scored off of an assist by sophomore Jacob Hackworth in the 51st minutes to knot the game at 1-1 at the break.
Georgetown's Wes Jones scored on a penalty kick in the 56th minute to give the Tigers the 2-1 advantage. Ten minutes later, freshman Joseph Webster scored for the Bears on an assist by Johnston to tie the game. The game appeared to be heading in to overtime, until Webster found freshman Dylan Stevens and he beat a Georgetown defender to find the back of the net at the 89:03 mark to propel the Bears to the 3-2 victory over Georgetown.
SSU's senior Kevin Fischer tallied two saves in the win. Georgetown's John Carpenter recorded four saves.
Shawnee State returns home to host Campbellsville on Saturday, November 5 in the opening round of the MSC Tournament. Game time is TBA.
