Hammond was named Shawnee State's sprints and jumps coach in July 2026.
Hammond brings nearly three decades of experience in both education and athletics to the Shawnee State University track and field program. A dedicated educator for 29 years, Coach Hammond has spent his career developing student-athletes both in the classroom and in competition. Throughout his 29 years of coaching, Hammond has worked across multiple sports, building a reputation for developing athletes through strong fundamentals, discipline and a commitment to excellence.
In recent years, he has served as the head track and field coach at Portsmouth High School, where his athletes have consistently achieved success at the conference, district, regional and state levels.
Hammond is passionate about helping student-athletes maximize their potential, emphasizing hard work, accountability and continuous improvement both on and off the track.
He and his wife, Robin, reside in the Portsmouth area with their Frenchie, Kaine. After raising their four children in the community, he looks forward to contributing to the continued growth and success of Shawnee State track and field.
