COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Shawnee State (1-5, 0-0) fell in straight sets to D'Youville Friday evening at Alumni Hall.
Set 1
Shawnee State jumped out to a 4-2 lead to begin the match behind two kills from
Camille Hall and one by
Kaylee McInnis, however, D'Youville responded with a 4-0 run to go ahead 6-4.
Neither team held a lead larger than one until the Saints scored six of seven points to take a 16-13 lead.
Leading 19-16, D'Youville scored six of the final eight points to win the opening set 25-18.
Set 2
The Bears took a 7-5 lead to start the second set, with McInnis and
Camille McIntosh each recording two kills.
The Saints responded with a 6-0 run to go ahead 11-7.
Leading 16-14, D'Youville closed the frame on a 9-2 run to win, 25-16, and take a 2-0 match lead.
Set 3
The Bears and Saints traded points to begin the third set, with neither team holding a lead larger than two until D'Youville went on a 6-0 run to take an 11-7 lead midway through the frame.
Shawnee State fought back to trail 16-14, however, the Saints answered with a 5-0 run to lead 21-14.
The Bears scored twice, but D'Youville scored the final four points to win the frame, 25-16, and take the match in straight sets.
Bears by the Numbers
Camille Hall and
Kaylee McInnis co-led Shawnee State with seven kills apiece.
Jalynn West paced the Bears with 20 assists. The junior currently ranks third in the Mountain East Conference with 129 assists and second with 5.86 kills per set.
Graci Claxon led the team in digs for the second consecutive match, recording 10 against D'Youville.
