GLENVILLE, W. Va. -- Shawnee State (0-4-1, 0-1) lost to Glenville State, 2-1, Wednesday night at I.L. & Sue Morris Stadium.
Lucie Ashkettle scored Shawnee State's first goal of the season, assisted by
Anna Sas, in the 14' to give the Bears a 1-0 lead.
Behind a four-save shutout effort from
Harlee Brand, Shawnee State took its 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Bears maintained their lead through the first 35 minutes of the second half, with Brand recording four more saves before Glenville State's Solares Solano scored in the 81' to tie the match, 1-1.
Three minutes later, the Pioneers scored again to take a 2-1 lead.
Shawnee State did not record a shot over the final six minutes as Glenville State secured the 2-1 victory.
Bears by the Numbers
Lucie Ashkettle scored her first, and the team's first, goal of the season.
Anna Sas recorded the Bears' first assist of the season on Ashkettle's goal in the 14'.
Madalynn Mueller put her first-career shot on goal in the 44'.
Harlee Brand tallied 10 saves, marking the second-highest total in a single game this season. The junior leads the Mountain East Conference with 47 saves through five matches.
