Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Following Senior Day festivities Saturday afternoon, Shawnee State (22-4, 14-0) started fast and finished strong in a 95-79 win over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
The Bears blitzed to a 16-2 lead in the first five minutes of the first half behind 11 quick points from
Jaiden Guice.
Shawnee State finished the opening half on a 32-26 run to lead Saint Mary-of-the-Woods 48-28 at halftime.
The second half was more competitive, with the Pomeroys outscoring Shawnee State 51-47, but the Bears had built enough of a first-half cushion to secure the 95-79 win.
Shawnee State was led in scoring by
Jaiden Guice who finished with a game-high 16 points, shooting 5-of-8 from the field, 3-of-6 from three-point range and 3-of-3 at the free-throw line.
The trio of
Tyreon Payne,
Jason Steele and
El Sieger scored 15 points apiece, while
Jareon Mayo and
Ahmadou Aw scored 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Trevino Glover and
Kiante Williams each added four points.
