Box Score BECKLEY, W. Va. -- Shawnee State (16-5, 7-2) returned to the win column Thursday evening as the Bears defeated WVU Tech 82-69 to sweep the season series against the Golden Bears.
Shawnee State set the tone early, outscoring WVU Tech 19-14 in the first quarter.
Miyoshi Ellis scored eight points in the frame on 4-of-7 shooting, while Jariah Steele added five points and four rebounds.
The Bears would add on to their lead in the second quarter, as they outpaced the Golden Bears 22-19 in the frame to take a 41-33 lead into halftime.
Ellis led all scorers at the break with 14 points.
West Virginia Tech would gain ground on Shawnee State in the third, winning the quarter 22-16 to cut the Bears' lead down to two points (57-55) heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
In the fourth quarter, Shawnee State shot 50% from the field, 66.7% from three-point range and 87.5% from the free-throw line, outscoring the Golden Bears 25-14 to secure the Bears' 82-69 win.
Laken Williams led the way with nine of her eventual 12 points in the fourth quarter alone.
Miyoshi Ellis led all scorers with 22 points -- her most in one game since Shawnee State's 66-64 win over Southeastern on Nov. 30 -- along with seven assists, four rebounds and three steals.
Williams' 12 points trailed Ellis for the second most on the team, while Jariah Steele and TK Catchings scored nine points apiece.
Jonilyah Chambers scored six points and collected a season-high seven rebounds, with Saratina Jackson also finished with six points.
The duo of Ra'Khyia Prince and Lilly-May Walker each added five points.
