MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- The River States Conference has selected
Tyreon Payne as its Offensive Player of the Week.
Payne, who had been sidelined since Shawnee State's
64-58 win at Rio Grande on Jan. 6, scored a season-high 29 points in his return Saturday against IU Southeast.
The 6-foot-2 senior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, also went a perfect 11-of-11 from the free-throw line in the win over the Grenadiers.
Payne stands alone as the only Shawnee State men's basketball player to earn RSC Offensive Player of the Week honors this season.
Shawnee State (16-4, 8-0) returns to action Thursday, Jan. 29, when it travels to Beckley, West Virginia to face West Virginia Tech. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
