Box Score NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- Shawnee State (15-5, 6-2) suffered its second River States Conference loss of the season Saturday afternoon, falling 91-79 at IU Southeast.
The Bears started strong in their weekend conference matchup against IU Southeast, leading the Grenadiers 20-15 at the end of the first frame.
Miyoshi Ellis led the team in first-quarter scoring with five points on 2-of-8 shooting.
IU Southeast would then take control of the first half in the second quarter, outscoring Shawnee State 23-14 in the frame to take a 38-34 lead into halftime.
The Grenadiers added on to their lead in the third quarter, outpacing the Bears 28-21 to take an 11-point advantage into the fourth.
Despite posting its most productive offensive quarter of the afternoon with 24 points, Shawnee State was unable to make up ground in the fourth, surrendering 25 points to IU Southeast as the Grenadiers secured the 91-79 win.
The 91 points allowed by the Bears marks the highest they've allowed in a single game this season, 13 more than the previous high in a 78-62 loss to No. 14 Cumberlands on Dec. 4.
Shawnee State was led offensively by Jariah Steele who scored a season-high 16 points on 3-of-4 shooting, while converting a season-high 10 free throws. Steele also posted season-highs in steals (2) and blocks (1).
TK Catchings finished a rebound-shy of a double-double, as the junior scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Miyoshi Ellis scored 13 points on 6-of-24 shooting and dished out eight assists.
Lauren Hawthorne finished with eight points, four rebounds, one block and one steal, while Jonilyah Chambers added seven points and two steals.
Laken Williams and Emily Maynard chipped in six points apiece.
IU Southeast accounted for the game's top three scorers, as Jesse Ledgerwood, Grace Stapleton and Morgan Roberts scored 28, 23 and 20 points, respectively.
