Box Score COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Shawnee State remained unbeaten in conference play Saturday afternoon, defeating IU Columbus 88-62 at Circle K Fieldhouse. The Bears stand alone atop the River States Conference with a 4-0 league record.
The first eight minutes of Saturday's meeting between Shawnee State and IU Columbus was neck-and-neck, as the Bears led the Crimson Pride 10-9 with 11:33 to go in the first half.
Shawnee State would then go on on a 30-15 over the half's final 11 minutes -- taking a 40-26 lead over IU Columbus into the break.
Daniel Rosenber got off to a strong and efficient start for the Bears in the first half, as the senior led all scorers with 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting.
El Sieger, despite shooting 1-of-5 from the field, finished the first half with nine points as he shot 7-of-7 from the free-throw line.
Jareon Mayo scored eight points on 2-of-3 shooting from three-point range, while also knocking down a pair of foul shots.
IU Columbus showed signs of a comeback early in the second half, opening the period on a 5-0 run over the first 90 seconds.
Despite this, Shawnee State would outscore the Crimson Pride 48-33 over the final 18 minutes of the half to bolt down the Bears' 88-62 win.
On the night,
Daniel Rosenber led all scorers with 20 points on 9-of-9 shooting (2-of-2 from beyond-the-arc), while also grabbing three rebounds and collecting two steals.
Jareon Mayo finished with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting (3-of-4 from three-point range), five steals, three rebounds and three assists.
El Sieger scored 13 points and recorded three steals over 28 minutes of game time -- the most for the senior in a single game this season.
Kiante Williams and
Jason Steele scored nine points apiece, while
Damon Charles recorded five.
