Bosler, Lewis lead impressive efforts for SSU women's swimming on Day 2 of Dr. Dillery Fall Frenzy; Bears finish fourth

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Being led again by the trio of De-Nicha Lewis, Abigail Bosler and Kaylee France, the Shawnee State women's swimming held its fourth-place position as Lewis, Bosler and France continued to put together excellent performances in both individual events as well as on relay teams to cap off the final day of action for the Shawnee State women's swimming program at the Dr. Dillery Fall Frenzy, which was held at the Doris and Bob Holloway Health and Wellness Center on the campus of Lindsey Wilson University in Columbia, Ky.

Lewis ultimately led the charge for the Shawnee State women's swimming program Saturday, swimming a stout 1:01.93 to win an eight-individual 100 yard butterfly event and finishing second out of 22 swimmers in the 100 yard freestyle, swimming a 56.01 to come within two-and-a-half tenths of a second from winning the event. Lewis ultimately posted three top-five finishes in individual events alone over the weekend, adding in a fourth-place finish in the 50 yard freestyle Friday evening.

France, who enjoyed an excellent debut Friday evening by posting a NAIA provisional cut time of 25.58 in the 50 yard freestyle, finished third out of 17 swimmers in the 100 yard backstroke, notching a time of 1:03.27 in doing so.

Bosler, who finished second in the 200 yard individual medley Friday evening, added in another stout performance with a fourth-place finish out of 11 swimmers in the 200 yard breaststroke, swimming a 2:36.65 in that event.

In addition to their performances in individual events, the trio, along with fellow Shawnee State swimmer Mercedes Mwebeiha, led the Bears to a third-place finish out of nine teams in the 400 yard freestyle relay, with the quartet swimming a 3:52.73. This gave Bosler, France and Lewis three top-five finishes in relay events for the weekend in addition to their standout individual performances.

Additional point-producing finishes from the Shawnee State women's program on Saturday were as follows: The women's swimming program at Shawnee State returns to action Friday, Oct. 17 when the Bears travel to Cumberlands (Ky.) to participate in a dual meet that the Patriots are hosting. The event will take place at the Patriots Aquatic Center in Williamsburg, Ky.
