Shawnee State holds 2025 Bear Run

The athletic department at Shawnee State played host to the 2025 Bear Run presented by Campus View Wednesday evening, with students, student-athletes, community members, athletic and university staff members all taking part in the annual event.

A total of 173 individuals finished the 5K run, with 82 of those folks finishing under 30 minutes and 130 people running the 5K in under 40 minutes. A total of 94 individuals finished the course while averaging under a 10 minute mile.

Eight of the top 10 individual finishers, and 11 of the top-15 overall, are Shawnee State student-athletes, with Shawnee State cross country runner Kaiden Lanoy's 15:29 pacing the field. Lanoy ran a 4:59 mile pace to head up the group. Fellow Shawnee State cross country runner Jerry O'Dell placed second with a 15:51.

The 5K course ran from its beginning point at the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts through the east end of campus, then westbound along the floodwall toward Alexandria Point, where runners headed back eastbound from Alexandria Point along the floodwall toward the east end of campus before making the turn back westbound for the homestretch at the finish line, which was set up at the same starting point.
