SSU soccer travels to No. 23 Grace (Ind.); M&W bowling, tennis also in action Saturday

Faced with a major test in its final nonconference contest of the 2025 season, the women's soccer program at Shawnee State will look to continue progressing Saturday afternoon when the Bears take on a major foe in No. 23 Grace (Ind.) Saturday afternoon at 1st Source Bank Field in Winona Lake, Ind. in what will be a 1 p.m. start for the match itself.

PREVIEWING SHAWNEE STATE:
  • Despite starting the 2025 season 1-5-1, Shawnee State has been in every match behind a defense that hasn't allowed more than two goals in any match since its season-opener.
  • Opponents are being held to 11.3 shots per match in 2025 as compared to 15.3 shots per match in 2024.
  • Sophomore center back Jelena Krpan won River States Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 8.
  • Lucie Ashkettle and Haynna Addy lead Shawnee State with three goals apiece in 2025 while Annie Coriell has two goals herself during the season.
  • From a distribution standpoint, Robyn Drinkwater leads Shawnee State with four assists.
PREVIEWING No. 23 GRACE:
  • Grace, who is ranked No. 23 in the latest NAIA Women's Soccer National Coaches Poll, is 6-0-2 in 2025.
  • The Lancers are led by the following players:
    • Junior midfielder Cassidy Felger (11 goals, three assists, 25 points)
    • Freshman forward Nora Pollock (five goals, 11 assists, 21 points)
    • Junior wing/forward Rylee Burns (five goals, six assists, 16 points)
    • Junior midfielder Audrey Abel (three goals, seven assists, 13 points)
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Abby Cline has made nine saves and only allowed two goals all season in eight matches in 2025, collecting a 0.27 GAA as a result.
OTHER SPORTS OCCURRING ON SATURDAY
  • The men's and women's bowling programs, along with the men's tennis program, will also be in action on Saturday. Men's and women's bowling will head to the DO Apparel-Brunswick Classic in Columbus, while men's tennis will see its nine players in action in a home match against Mount Vernon Nazarene at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
