Having already knocked off one ranked opponent in 2025, the men's soccer program at Shawnee State will look to make it two as the Bears (4-1-1) head into the heart of Indianapolis, Ind. to take on No. 16 Marian (Ind.) (5-2-1) at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening in a nonconference contest that will be held at Ascension St. Vincent Field in Indianapolis.

Previewing Shawnee State
- Shawnee State's offensive attack has been well-balanced -- as the Bears currently have 10 different players who have scored a goal and 11 players who have scored a point in 2025.
- Alfie Maynard, who leads the team with seven points, has two goals and three assists to his credit while fellow senior Marco Riva has two goals and two assists in 2025. Sei Aitoku, Nikos Pontikis, Belo Bitencourt, Esau Chavez, Alex Kennedy, João Coqueti Léo, Théo Cavaleiro Trindade and Sekou Mara have all scored at least one goal during the season, while Trevor Aviero Masanjala has an assist to his credit.
- Shawnee State starting goalkeeper Toby Forsythe has been stout in goal, collecting a 0.92 goals-against-average in 2025 so far. Forsythe is on pace to break the school record for GAA in a single season with that mark.
- The Bears have had four players already win a River States Conference Player of the Week honor in 2025. Riva and Forsythe each swept the River States Conference's Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors on Aug. 25, while Bitencourt won the RSC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 1. Aitoku was named as the RSC Offensive Player of the Week Monday evening.
- Aitoku, Bitencourt and Forsythe have played in and started each of Shawnee State's first six matches in 2025.
Previewing Marian (Ind.)
- Marian is led by 6-4 sophomore midfielder Samuel Wehaus and 5-9 junior forward Gustavo Nunes, who have combined for 14 goals, five assists and 33 points in 2025. Wehaus has eight goals and an assist while Nunes has six goals and four assists for the 2025 season.
- 6-2 junior goalkeeper Mateo Garcia-Galan has a 1.29 GAA through his first eight matches of the 2025 season in goal for the Knights.
- In its 5-2-1 start, Marian has a 5-1 win over Governors State (Ill.), who is receiving votes, as well as shutout victories over Lawrence Tech (Mich.) and Georgetown (Ky.) by 3-0 and 6-0 margins, respectively. The Knights, who also defeated Indiana-Northwest by a 2-1 count and Northwestern Ohio by a 3-2 margin, tied Judson (Ill.) 1-1 and lost to Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), 2-1, and No. 7 Lindsey Wilson, 3-1, for its only blemishes on the season.
