SSU has 18 programs named to 2025 NAIA Scholar-Team list on NAIA Awards Day

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The athletic department at Shawnee State again proved to be one of the flag-bearers of the River States Conference from an academic standpoint, as a total of 18 programs were named as 2025 NAIA Scholar-Teams due to having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in the classroom, as announced by the NAIA Monday.

The 18 sports that were honored by the NAIA on Shawnee State's behalf included women's bowling, women's swimming and diving, softball, women's tennis, women's soccer, volleyball, baseball, women's golf, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's indoor and outdoor track and field, men's bowling, men's swimming and diving, men's soccer, men's tennis, men's golf and men's cross country. That total was second in the contest only to Midway (Ky.).

Shawnee State, however, led the River States Conference with teams that finished above a 3.5 in the classroom -- as women's bowling (3.62), women's swimming and diving (3.57), softball (3.56), women's tennis (3.52) and women's soccer (3.51) all finished above that line.

Volleyball, baseball and women's golf each obtained cumulative team GPAs above 3.4, while women's basketball, women's cross country, women's indoor track and field and women's outdoor track and field, men's bowling, and men's swimming and diving all nabbed GPAs from 3.29 to 3.39 with women's basketball being the highest among that group.

Men's soccer, men's tennis, men's golf and men's cross country rounded out the strong performances.

Among all NAIA members in Ohio, Shawnee State placed second statewide among all schools who hold a current membership with the association.
