Rader finishes off 2024-25 season with a bang; earns Second-Team CSC-NAIA All-American honors

Having earned two NAIA All-American honors in just his first season inside the Shawnee State banner, Minford native and field athlete stalwart Luke Rader has already established himself as the best jumping athlete to date in the history of the Shawnee State men's track and field program.

However, Rader is a scholar as well -- and on Wednesday afternoon, Rader was rewarded for his work on both sides of the house -- earning Second-Team College Sports Communicators-NAIA Academic All-America honors in a release that was put out by CSC national officials.

Following a NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championship long jump that was 23 feet, 11 inches (7.29 meters) that resulted in the Minford native's first NAIA All-American honor back in March, the talented leaper put on a further display of athletic excellence during the outdoor season.

Seeded 18th in the event after needing to qualify in early May, and doing so at the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet, the last meet prior to the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships with a personal best jump of 23 feet, 11-and-a-half inches (7.3 meters) -- Rader popped off with another personal best, jumping 24 feet and one half-inch (7.33 meters) on his third and final preliminary jump in the opening flight to put Rader third in the flight, and seventh overall, allowing Rader to easily qualify for the final round of competition.

Rader then solidified his position in the top-eight in the finals, as the Minford High School alum set his second personal best of the day with a 24-foot, one-inch (7.34-meter) jump to seal a fantastic seventh-place showing that stands as his second NAIA All-American honor and his new NAIA National Championship best finishing position to date.

In River States Conference action, Rader was an absolute force, winning five River States Conference Championships in individual events by sweeping the indoor and outdoor long jump and triple jump events at both championship meets -- while also winning the conference title in the indoor 55 meter hurdles. Rader also finished third in the outdoor 110 meter hurdles, fourth as part of Shawnee State's outdoor 4-by-100 meter relay squad, and finished fifth in the 400 meter hurdles to boot.

Ultimately, Rader contributed to 65 points between both conference meets -- and was named as the 2025 RSC Newcomer of the Year in both indoor and outdoor track and field as well as the 2025 RSC Field Athlete of the Year in indoor track.

Academically, Rader continues to perform at a high level -- as the standout jumper and hurdler has a 3.66 GPA as a physical therapy assistant major while having earned over 90 credits to boot.
