GREENWOOD, Ind. -- The men's swimming quartet of Evan Ater, Evan Bower, Josiah Ramdeen and Evan Siberell were each honored Tuesday afternoon as the men's swimming program at Shawnee State placed the maximum amount of individuals possible on the College Sports Communicators' NAIA Academic All-District team, as announced by CSC national officials.
Bower, who set a NAIA Provisional Cut for the first time in his career this past season in the 100 yard butterfly, holds the highest grade point average in the men's swimming program as the senior has a 3.97 in mathematical sciences.
Siberell, who earned his bachelor's degree in accounting in December 2024 and is now a graduate student in the master's of business administration program at Shawnee State, finished with a GPA above 3.85 as an undergrad academically and made two NAIA Men's Swimming and Diving National Championship appearances in the 100 and 200 yard breaststrokes, finishing 18th at the 2024 NAIA Men's Swimming and Diving National Championships in the 200.
Ater and Ramdeen, who are each three-year members of the men's swimming program, have notched 3.57 and 3.52 GPAs, respectively. Ater is a Integrated Social Studies AYA 7-12 major who serves as a member of Shawnee State's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee while Ramdeen is a computer engineering technology major who set a NAIA Provisional Cut in 2023 in the 100 yard backstroke.
To be eligible for CSC-NAIA Academic All-District honors as a swimmer, each swimmer has to have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and finish in the top-eight of a conference championship meet in at least one event, whether it be of an individual or a relay variety.
Between men's and women's swimming, Shawnee State is one of only 15 universities in the NAIA to participate in the College Sports Communicators program. Bower's and Siberell's academic efforts have qualified the pair for consideration on the CSC-NAIA Academic All-America ballot -- making the Shawnee State men's swimming program one of only six in the NAIA to qualify two or more individuals for consideration. That list, in addition to Shawnee State, includes Cumberlands (Ky.), Keiser (Fla.), Midland (Neb.), Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) and the Savannah College of Art and Design (Ga.),
