Women's Indoor Track and Field

SSU women's indoor track competes in season-opener at Marshall Open

HUNTINGTON, W. Va -- The women's track and field program received four top-10 runs in the women's 5,000 meters -- including a personal best from Beth Middleton -- and got a personal best throw from Faith Kuhn in the women's weight throw to round out its main efforts at the Marshall Opener, which was held Saturday afternoon at the Chris Cline Athletic Complex in Huntington, W. Va.

Olivia Cisco, who finished fifth in the women's 5,000 meters, led all runners with a 18:06.01 while Jessica Elick (18:41.46), Payton McQuirt (18:55.67) and Beth Middleton (18:58.57) finished eighth, ninth and 10th respectively. The middle of the latter trio was competing in her first-ever indoor collegiate race while the latter, Middleton, ran a personal best time.

In the weight throw, Jaina Bailey launched a 45-foot, nine-inch throw to finish 11th while Kuhn's 40-foot, 10-and-a-half inch performance put her 17th on the board.

Competing in the first event of her indoor track and field career, Shawnee State freshman Maddison Dietrich ran a 1:02.24 to finish 13th in the 400 meter run.

The remaining competitors from Saturday's meet are as follows:

60 meters: Audrey Nolan, 23rd (8.45); Jackie Pendleton, 25th (8.50)

200 meters: Jackie Pendleton, 21st (27.89); Audrey Nolan, 24th (28.80)

3,000 meters: Natalie Brammer, 10th (13:15.80)

Weight throw: Tashawna Young, 20th (36 feet, 10-and-a-quarter inches); Alexis Sudderth, 21st (34 feet, seven-and-a-half inches; Marli Marcum, 25th (28 feet, seven-and-three-quarters inches), Ali Taylor, 26th (20 feet, nine-and-a-quarter inches).

Shot put: Faith Kuhn, 10th (32 feet, seven-and-a-half inches; Olivia Newman, 14th (27 feet, 10-and-a-quarter inches); Sarah Melinkovich, 15th (27 feet, seven-and-a-quarter inches); Tashawna Young, 16th (25 feet, six-and-three-quarters inches); Alexis Sudderth, 17th (25 feet, four-and-three-quarters inches), Ali Taylor, 18th (19 feet, nine inches).
