Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Shawnee State (10-3, 1-0) defeated Great Lakes Christian 81-34 in Tuesday afternoon's nonconference meeting, marking the Bears' third consecutive win -- along with six of their last seven games.
Shawnee State jumped in front early in the contest -- outscoring the Crusaders 20-7 in the first quarter.
Emily Maynard led the Bears in first-frame scoring with six points, as the junior was 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.
Laken Williams finished the quarter just behind Maynard with five points, along with two steals and two rebounds.
The second quarter was the most competitive quarter of the afternoon, however, Shawnee State still outscored Great Lakes Christian 19-13 in the period.

Lauren Hawthorne and
Kenya Peck each finished with a team-high of three points in the quarter, while Great Lake Christian's Marin Abe led all scorers with six points.
Coming off of the most contested quarter of the evening, the third frame proved to be the most one-sided of the contest as Shawnee State outpaced the Crusaders by a 24-6 clip.
Lauren Hawthorne built off of her five first-half points with five more in the third quarter alone to lead all scorers.
Defensively for Shawnee State, the six points they surrendered in the third quarter to Great Lakes Christian tied the team's season-low for points allowed in a single quarter -- a feat they've accomplished three other times this season (Madonna, Governors State, Warner (FL)).
The Bears wrapped up their 10th win of the season in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's nonconference contest, topping Great Lakes Christian 18-8 in the stanza.
Shawnee State saw 13 different players contribute in the scoring column on the afternoon, with
Lauren Hawthorne's 10 points leading the team.
Emily Maynard finished with nine points on 3-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc, along with three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Jariah Steele was third in the scoring column with eight points, while
Laken Williams,
TK Catchings and
Kenya Peck finished with seven points apiece.
Skylar Kesler scored six points 2-of-4 shooting (2-of-2 from the free-throw line), and snagged a game-high 12 rebounds.
