(RV) SSU MBB Drops Nonconference Matchup to Great Lakes Christian, 73-68

Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Despite leading 34-30 at the end of the first half, Shawnee State (9-4, 1-0) was topped by Great Lakes Christian Tuesday evening 73-68 behind a 43-34 second half in favor of the Crusaders. The loss marks SSU MBB's first in their last eight games.

Daniel Rosenber, who has now led the Bears in scoring in each of the last two contests, led SSU in first-half scoring with nine points on 4-of-7 shooting (1-of-1 from three-point range), while also snagging five rebounds.

El Sieger was right behind Rosenber with eight points, while Jaiden Guice finished the half with six.

Shawnee State trailed by as much as seven points in the first half, but outpaced the Crusaders 24-13 over the final 13 minutes of the frame, bringing the halftime score to 34-30 with the Bears out in front.

SSU maintained their lead over Great Lakes Christian for a large majority of the second half -- including a game-high 10-point lead (47-37) with 15:27 to go in the frame.

Shawnee State led the Great Lakes Christian 66-60 with three minutes to go in regulation, however, the Crusaders would go on to outscore the Bears 13-2 over the final few minutes of the second half  -- cementing the night's final at 73-68 in favor of Great Lakes Christian.

Daniel Rosenber led Shawnee State with a team-high 14 points and finished one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards.

Jareon Mayo finished in double figures for the seventh time in eight games as the senior scored 11 points.

Kiante Williams scored nine points and snagged seven rebounds, while El Sieger notched eight points.

Great Lakes Christian's Devin Watts led all scorers with 16 points on 4-of-8 shooting (2-of-3 from beyond the arc), while connecting on six of his nine attempts from the free-throw line.
