SSU VB vs. IUEMidway

Women's Volleyball

SSU volleyball to play host to IU-East, Midway at Waller Gymnasium with potential to win RSC East Division

Coming off of a massive weekend where the Shawnee State volleyball program obtained a 3-0 week en route to claiming two big road wins over River States Conference East Division foes Rio Grande and West Virginia Tech, along with a straight-set victory over Cincinnati-Clermont that clinched a 20-win season for the Bears for the first time since 2012, SSU will look to make its final weekend of the 2025 regular season one to remember -- for its senior class in particular -- as the Bears look to aim for a pair of victories against Indiana-East Friday at 7 p.m. and Midway Saturday at 1 p.m. in a pair of contests that will be held at Waller Gymnasium in Portsmouth.

The River States Conference standings are below. If Shawnee State wins against the Red Wolves and the Eagles Friday and Saturday, and Rio Grande drops its final match of the season against West Virginia Tech, Shawnee State can win the RSC East Division outright. The Bears can also share the crown with the RedStorm even without a Rio loss.

If Indiana-Southeast and Indiana-Columbus lose their final two matches of the season against Indiana-Kokomo and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods this Friday and Saturday and Shawnee State wins each of its final pair of contests, the Bears would also clinch a top-four seed and will host a River States Conference Quarterfinal matchup next week. The River States Conference Semifinals and Championship Match will be played at Indiana-Kokomo regardless of this weekend's results.

Along with the above, Shawnee State will be celebrating each of the four members of its senior class Saturday at 12 p.m. -- as the Bears will honor Makaela Lovely, Megan Steele, Ava Jenkins, and Reagan Lewis in SSU's regular season finale against Midway. Each of the four players have accomplished a significant milestone, as Lovely (1,369 assists), Steele (1,435 digs), Lewis (1,671 assists) and Jenkins (1,316 digs) have all surpassed a significant four-digit mark for their careers.
