LAKE WALES, Fla. -- Trailing by a 16-11 margin at the end of the opening quarter of action, the women's basketball program at Shawnee State utilized a 27-6 second-quarter spurt to turn a five-point deficit into a 15-point halftime advantage and never looked back from then on, as senior lead guard
Miyoshi Ellis' 23 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block led the Bears (6-2) to a 62-50 win over Warner, Fla. (2-5) in a road contest that was held at the Turner Athletic Center in Lake Wales.
Behind by the five-point spread at the end of the opening quarter, Shawnee State was held to 3-of-17 shooting in the first canto.
However, DeWayne Burroughs' squad regrouped in the second 10-minute stanza by going 9-of-15 from the field and 8-of-10 from the charity stripe in the second quarter, with the guard combo of Ellis and sophomore
