DANIELS, W. Va. -- The women's golf program at Shawnee State finished off the River States Conference's Fall Preview with an eighth-place showing at the annual 36-hole event, with the Bears finishing up its final round of play Tuesday evening at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W. Va.
A pair of freshmen led the Bears with their scores Tuesday as
Saylor Crace made a 10-stroke improvement from Day 1 to Day 2, shooting an 87 in the final round to finish with a two-day 184 to lead Shawnee State. Crace posted eight pars on the final day of competition, including five on the back nine holes in the second round of action. Crace finished 32nd overall.
Following Crace, fellow freshman
Olivia Lewis finished with a two-day 185, finishing 33rd in the final rundown. Lewis improved by seven strokes on the second day of competition, posting six pars as well as a birdie on the 16th hole, a 453-yard par five.
Returning letterwinners
Brynna Spencer (34th),
Aly Wellman (36th) and
Cali Baird (tied for 39th) rounded out the finishing order for Shawnee State.
The women's golf program at Shawnee State will be back in action alongside the men's golf program when the Bears take part in the Crimson Classic, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 11 and Sunday, Oct. 12 at Wildcat Creek Golf Course in Kokomo, Ind.
