KOKOMO, Ind. -- The women's golf program at Shawnee State received solid rounds from its two most experienced golfers --
Aly Wellman and
Cali Baird -- en route to notching a fourth-place finish on the opening day of the Crimson Classic, which was held Saturday at Wildcat Creek Golf Course in Kokomo, Ind.
Wellman, who sits 14th after the opening day of the tournament, posted seven pars in the opening round of the tournament, while Baird, who finished in a tie for 16th place after the opening round of competition, nabbed five.
Saylor Crace (t-21st),
Brynna Spencer and
Olivia Lewis (t-25th) and
Isabelle Melvin (t-29th) rounded out the remaining Shawnee State women's golfers who competed in the opening round of the event -- with Melvin participating as an individual.
Shawnee State will be back for the second and final day of the Crimson Classic Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Creek Golf Course in Kokomo, Ind.
