Winning two conference championships in back-to-back days -- especially as a distance runner -- is very difficult to do.
However, Shawnee State sophomore Olivia Cisco is simply building on a resume that continues to shine in a bright manner.
Cisco, who already had a River States Conference Championship in her back pocket in the RSC's 10,000 Meter Run, added in her second RSC Championship in as many days as the sophomore's 18:09.19 in the River States Conference's 5,000 Meter Run bettered the next-fastest participant by over 34 seconds en route to the Waverly talent's second title of the week -- with her two titles heading up Shawnee State's fifth-place finish in the RSC Championships, which were held Thursday and Friday in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Along with her event-winning 18:09.19, Cisco, along with Rio Grande's Amarissa Kerns, were the only two runners in the event to time in under 19 minutes in the River States Conference's 5,000 Meter Run of the 17 participants who finished the event.
Behind Cisco's conference-title winning performance, Haidyn Wamsley added in six additional points by finishing third in the triple jump, notching not only Third-Team All-RSC honors in the event but collecting a new personal best as well as the No. 41-ranked jump in the NAIA with her 36-foot, one-and-a-half inch performance to boot. Brianna Brudy continued her strong spring, and her first spring inside the outoor track and field program, by posting two top-five finishes in both the 100 meter dash (12.40) as well as the 200 meter dash (26.26) to finish fifth in both races. Lastly, Wamsley and Brudy, along with Makenna Lovely and Ivy Gentry, each combined for a 52.02 to finish fourth in the 4-by-100 meter relay.
Shawnee State received its remaining point tabulations from Ivy Gentry (seventh, 400 meter hurdles, 1:20.75), Amanda Salmons (eighth, 800 meter run, 2:31.08), Faith Kuhn (eighth, shot put, 32 feet, eight-and-a-quarter inches) and Jozi Brown (eighth, 1,500 meter run, 5:12.98) to round out the 34 points that the Bears scored on Day 2 and the 94.5 points that it scored as a unit between both days.
