The women's track and field program again got significant efforts from track and field mainstays Haidyn Wamsley and Olivia Cisco at the Cherry Blossom Invitational in Athens, Ohio Saturday evening -- as Wamsley produced a meet-winning performance in the high jump while Cisco notched a first-place performance of her own in the 3,000 meter run to cap off competition.
Wamsley, who posted a five-foot, three-and-three-quarter inch jump, just missed NAIA qualification by three one-hundredths of a meter, while Cisco, who continues to enjoy a breakout spring, ran a 10:29.51 in the 3,000 meter run to best her next-closest competitor by over 46 seconds in the event.
In additional performances that were inside the top-eight, Juniper Allen and Beth Middleton finished fourth and fifth with times of 11:36.39 and 11:37.38, while Makaela Lovely (second in triple jump, 28 feet, six-and-a-half inches; third in high jump, four feet, 11-and-three-quarters inches) and Marli Marcum (third in triple jump, 27 feet, 11 inches; eighth in high jump, four feet, six inches) each scored points as well. Wamsley added in a sixth-place showing in the javelin (94 feet, three inches) while Brianna Brudy, who posted a long jump of 16 feet, two-and-a-half inches, finished eighth in that event.
The 4-by-100 and 4-by-400 units also finished in the top-eight, as well -- with the 4-by-400 relay grouping of Cisco, Jozi Brown, Jessica Elick and Mckenna Pannell posting a 4:42.68 to finish fifth and the 4-by-100 relay squad of Wamsley, Brudy, Ivy Gentry and Makaela Lovely notching a 51.54 to place eighth.
