Shawnee State Baseball welcomed the 10th-ranked, the University of the Cumberlands Patriots Friday afternoon for another Mid-South Conference series. In game one, the Bears would not have the firepower to match the Pats today as they would fall in seven innings 13-1.
From the first pitch of the game, UC would have the offensive part of the game figured out as in the first three innings tagged Bears starter Jacob Gleason with 10 hits. When it came time for the Bears to answer the call and rally, they struggled to put anything together against the Cumberlands starter. SSU would get on the board in the fourth as the Bear's Junior first baseman Noah Sniadach singled to center scoring Eric Oakes who blasted a double to the wall to start the inning. That would be the only excitement for Shawnee as the Patriots starter settled in and went nearly complete.
- Sniadach picked up his 20th RBI on the season
- Oakes picked up two more hits
The Bears will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they finish the series against the Patriots. The first pitch is scheduled for Noon and will be doubleheader action.
