The Shawnee State Softball team traveled to Thomas More University for a four-game series on Friday and Saturday. The Bears would lose both games on day one. Losing game one 3-2 and 6-5 in game two.
In game one, Cassie Schaefer threw five solid innings striking out seven and allowing three runs. Cameryn Davidson finished the game with one inning of work not allowing a hit and striking out one. The Bear's lone runs came in the top of the seventh when Brittani Wolfenbarker hit a two-run shot scoring Lexie Lockwood to put us down 3-2 which would eventually be the final score.
In game two, Emma Wargel struggled but still struck out six batters over her two innings of work, Carly King would relieve Wargel for the final four innings and absolutely dominate allowing just two hits and one run. In the top of the first, the Bears would take a 1-0 lead on a wild pitch, in the third, the Bears would score on an error in the bottom they would fall behind five to two. Cassie Schaefer doubled to score Kylie Ray and Ashley Fite followed by a Lauren Spears single, scoring Schaefer in the fifth inning. The Bears would give up a homer in the bottom of the fifth which would eventually be the winning run.

The Softball team will be back in action Saturday afternoon as they look to even the slate with Thomas More. The doubleheader will start at noon.
