The Shawnee State Baseball team played a doubleheader against Rio Grande University on Tuesday, splitting winning game one 12-11 and losing game two 15-2.
In game one, Ethan Ison would go four innings allowing three hits and not allowing a single run. In the bottom of the first Eric Oakes would get the scoring started hitting a two-run home run. In the second inning Deigo Mendoza and Tyler Lund each would homer, followed by a Tanner Lund triple to score three runs to take an 8-0 lead after three innings. In the third and fourth innings, Zach Gasper and Noah Sniadach would each homer in consecutive innings taking a 10-0 lead. Eric Oakes would double, scoring two runs. Rio Grande would make a strong effort to make a comeback falling short, however. The Bears would win 12-11.

In game two, The Bears would struggle to keep the Rio bats in check as they would score 15 runs in the contest and the only Bears runs would come in the third inning from an Eric Oakes home run and a Zach Gaspar groundout scoring a run. The Bears would fall 15-2.
The Bears will be back in action this weekend as they welcome their final Mid-South Conference opponent, the Georgetown College Tigers. The first game of the weekend is Thursday at 3 PM. Come out and support the Bears and celebrate the Senior Bears.
