Game Recap: Baseball |

Bears fall in Tough Doubleheader versus Saints

The Shawnee State Baseball team traveled to Florence, Kentucky for a three-game conference series against conference foe Thomas More University. The Bears would play a doubleheader Saturday afternoon falling in both games 4-5 and 2-12.

In game one, The Bears would send ace Jacob Gleason to the mound where he would battle and throw a great game, going six innings allowing five hits while striking out six and only allowing three runs. Paul Kindervater would relieve Gleason in the final frame, going two-thirds allowing the tying run, and while the winning run would be on first for Ricky Deeble to come in to try to hold it at a tie. Thomas More would come up with clutch hitting getting two hits on the crafty lefty to take game one 5-4

In game two, the Bears would struggle to provide runs and consistent hitting to make this a game after falling behind 8-2 in the first four innings. Tyler Lund and Eric Oakes each had an RBI in the contest. The bears would struggle to contain the Thomas More bats as they would put up runs in six of their eight frames making it very difficult for the Bears bats to come back after the tough loss in game one. The Bears would lose in eight innings 12-2.

  • Tyler Lund doubles twice
  • Five other Beard with a hit

The Bears are back in action this afternoon at 1 PM as they look to top the Saints in game three of the series.
