The Shawnee State Baseball team traveled to Tennessee to take on Cumberland University in a three-game series. With Cumberlands bats scorching hot this season, the Bears dropped game one, 14-4.
The Bears would send Jacob Gleason to the mound, he would battle for three and two-thirds innings facing this hard-hitting Cumberland team. Austin Crawford would follow him for the final innings. The Bears only managed four hits in game one of the series, still trying to find consistency at the plate.
Two of the four hits being for extra bases though, Noah Rezner started the scoring for Shawnee when he hit a solo shot to right field in the fifth inning. Noah Sniadach doubled in the sixth inning, scoring Tanner Lund and advancing Eric Oakes to third. Diego Mendoza then followed with a single, scoring Oakes, and advancing Sniadach to third. Lastly, Brock Kitchen scored Sniadach on a fielder's choice. The Bears will look to try to take what they did in the sixth into tomorrow to try to take two and win the series.
