The Shawnee State Bears Baseball team traveled to McKenzie, Tennessee, to take on the Wildcats of Bethel University in a Friday night showdown. SSU fell in game one of the series 6-2, looking to bounce back and nab two wins in the double header action Saturday afternoon.
The Bears would have an excellent pitching performance from Jacob Gleason. Gleason went seven innings while striking out six. Ricky Deeble gave the Bears one inning of work striking out one and not allowing an earned run. Shawnee would score in back-to-back innings after a Tyler Lund single would score Noah Rezner in the fifth. Noah Sniadach singled in the sixth, which plated Charles Douglas and tied the game up at two. SSU failed to score again and fell 6-2 in the first conference match-up of the season.
- Sniadach provided two hits and an RBI
- Ty. Lund had one hit and a walk with an RBI
The Bears will take on Bethel again tomorrow, looking to get on the winning side. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
