The Shawnee State Bears started off their first home series of the season against Concordia Michigan. The first game of the three-game set did not go as Shawnee had planned to lose 16-2.
Jacob Gleason took the ball coming off two excellent outings to start the season, he battled through 4.1 innings doing the best he could to limit the heavy hitters of Concordia. He struck out four allowing seven hits. James Bodrock and Ricky Deeble provided a chance for the Bear's offense to come alive allowing just one run on three hits over 2.2 innings of work.
The Bear's offense was held in check by the Concordia pitchers only having three hits on the day and only managing 8 base runners. The Bears will look to find a recipe for success tomorrow.
Games two and three of the series will be played tomorrow, Sunday, February 19th at Branch Ricky Park. The first/ pitch is scheduled for 12:00.
