Shawnee State Women's Volleyball team traveled to Beckley, West Virginia, to take on the Golden Bears of West Virginia Tech. As hot as the Bears have been, they fell to the WVU Tech Golden Bears in five sets.

The Bears and Golden Bears started the first set of trading points, with neither team figuring out the other. With the game tied at 12, Gretchen Chaney and Regan Lewis went back-to-back with kills forcing a timeout from WVU Tech. After the Tech timeout, Shawnee went on a 10-4 run to close the set and claim set 1. The second set saw a battle throughout the entire set, once again neither team gave up the run. SSU found itself down four points and flipped a switch, a few Golden Bear errors and kills from Haidyn Wamsley and Chaney. The Bears fell in set two 25-23, with all eyes on the next set.

Sets three and four were similar to the battle of the first two sets, with each team finally claiming a point towards the best of five. The fifth set saw the Bears fall behind two points early on after a block from Bethany Colling. A kill from Kylee Barney tied SSU up at two, but back-to-back service aces from the Golden Bears gave WVU Tech the lead and they never looked back grabbing the victory.

The Bears will be back in action at the end of the week. They welcome in the Pioneers of Point Park University on Friday evening at 7 p.m. and the Red Storm of Rio Grande on Saturday at Noon. Saturday's game will be a white-out, so come out and support the Bears.
