After knocking off the #8 team in the nation at home, the Shawnee State men's basketball team hosted Bethel University. Scoring for fun, the Bears and Wildcats battled, but SSU ultimately came out victorious, 94-83.
Giving up the first field goal of the game to the Wildcats, Shawnee went on to never trail again in the first half. With the defense clicking, the offense was able to zone in and with 5 assists each, Tre Baumgardner III and Brandon Beavers both were playmaking machines. Jaiden Guice's well-known shot-making ability was put on display again as he hit two off-balance 3-pointers and led the Bears to a 10-point lead at the half, 44-34.
The second half saw this matchup turn into a game of runs, as Bethel and Shawnee State traded points in spurts. For every double-digit lead the Bears could pull out, the Wildcats seemed to have an answer. However, one of the strongest shooting performances of the year from Shawnee State saw them keep a lead that they never conceded. With a field goal percentage of 53% in the half, the Bears went on to win 94-83.
Hitting the road for just the second time this semester, the Bears will take a road trip to the University of Tennessee Southern. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on the 26th.
