Friday's doubleheader against Campbellsville would leave SSU with two losses. The first game would be a low-scoring match, with one big inning from the Tigers deciding the game. The second game would see the Bears starting their comeback too late and they would end the first day swept by CU.
Game 1
Cassie Schaefer pitched another complete game in the first matchup, allowing two runs off of four hits with three strikeouts to add. The Bears were able to put the first run of the game on the board after Kylie Ray's single that scored Tori Badgett, but Campbellsville responded with two more in the following inning to gain a lead. Both defenses were able to stop the other from scoring after that, and the Tigers won 2-1.
Game 2
Ashley Fite took to the circle to begin the second game for the Bears but was quickly replaced by Cameron Davidson after two quick runs by the Tigers. After Campbellsville took the early game by storm, Shawnee State began mounting a comeback in the bottom of the 6th inning. Aleeya Adkins would drive the ball into center field, allowing Rebekah Badgett and Ashton Rankin to cross home plate. SSU's push would come too late, as they would lose this match 5-2.
The Bears will be back in action for senior day tomorrow, April 23, at Portsmouth High School. It will be another DH, with the first pitch slated for 12:00 PM.
