Bears Lose Both to Patriots

Friday's contest between Shawnee State and the University of the Cumberlands saw the Patriots getting both wins. The Bears shut out the first game, losing 2-0. The second game would see an offensive surge for the Patriots, as they won 8-2.

Game 1
Emma Wargel started in the circle for SSU and would go five innings with one strikeout and allow 4 hits with 1 run. Cameryn Davidson would throw in the final inning to allow one hit and one run. Shawnee State would hold off the Patriots until the 5th and 6th innings, where they would score their only two runs. SSU would struggle offensively, only getting three hits in the first game eventually falling to The University of the Cumberlands.

Game 2

Cassie Schaefer started the game for Shawnee State, going five and two-thirds of an innings with two strikeouts and allowing three hits tallying six runs. Faith Brown would close, notching one strikeout while allowing three hits and two runs. The Bears would trail after UC would score one in the bottom of the 3rd, but tie things up after Aleeya Adkins would hit a double to score Ashley Fite in the next half-inning. Tori Badgett would score after a single up the middle by Ashton Rankin. SSU would hold onto the lead until the 6th inning, as the Patriots would tack on seven more runs and secure their win 8-2.

The Bears will take on the Patriots in a DH again tomorrow with the first pitch slated for noon.
