Shawnee State walked away with both wins against Asbury University Tuesday afternoon. The first matchup saw three SSU players with 2 RBIs to push their 6-2 win. In the second game of the day, the Bears shut out the Eagles to win 5-0.
Game 1
Emma Wargel started from the mound, only allowing one run and two hits while also getting a strikeout. Cameryn Davidson came in to relieve Wargel in the 5th and also allowed just one run on two hits. The Bear's offense got seven hits to fall, and 6 of those runners crossed the plate. Brittani Wolfenbarker, Wargel, and Aleeya Adkins all were responsible for two RBI's each. Shawnee State would go on to win, 6-2.
Game 2
Cassie Schaefer would throw a complete-game shutout in the second game. Schaefer would only allow two hits while coming away with four strikeouts. Brittani Wolfenbarker would be responsible for two RBIs in this game as well. Kylie Ray would also get two runs to score off of a single and a walk. Schaefer would reach base after an error by second base, and Ray would cross home for another scoring play. SSU won this matchup 5-0.
The Bears will go on the road on March 25 to take on the University of the Cumberlands for a DH with the first pitch set for 2:00 PM.
