Shawnee State traveled to Henderson, Tennessee to take on Freed-Hardeman University for this week's Mid-South Conference action. The Bears would fall to the Lions 9-10 in a nail-biting last few innings.
The Bears would find themselves in a hole from the moment the ball was put into play. The Lions of Freed-Hardeman figured out SSU's starting pitcher Kyle Wisniewski, tagging him for three runs in the first two innings. Shawnee would come out of hibernation in the top of the fourth inning as Tanner Lund would come to the plate with the bases loaded clearing the bases with a grand slam putting the Bears up 4-3. It would not take long for the Lions to add on three more over the next two innings making the score 6-4 going into the last three innings of the game. Lund would once again come to the plate and clear the bases with a big blast, this time being a three-run homer. Even with SSU getting hot at the end, FHU would get the final say and win 10-9.
The Bears will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they finish the weekend series against the Lions. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
