Thursday night's doubleheader between Asbury University and Shawnee State University ended with both teams taking a win. SSU took the first game 8-0 after a bit of stellar offense and pitching, Asbury would win the second game as errors proved to be the Bears' downfall.
Game 1
Cassie Schaefer started on the rubber for the Bears, allowing only a single hit and keeping Asbury from scoring. Mackenzie Hale hit a shot into the left-center for a double, locking both Aleeya Adkins and Kylie Ray in for SSU's first two runs in the game in the top of the 1st inning. Shawnee State continued to cross home plate in the game, scoring in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th inning. The Bears were able to prevent the Eagles from scoring, although they managed to load the bases in the 3rd. Hale was responsible for 3 RBIs in the game, Contributing healthily to the Bear's 8-0 win.
Game 2
The offense struggled to find its footing in the second game, but Brooke Webb broke the silence in the top of the 7th inning with a homer deep into left field. The defense also struggled to limit Asbury from scoring, as their four errors proved to be a bit too costly. Asbury University went on to win the game 4-1.
The Bears will be back in action tomorrow Friday, March 11, as they take on Grace College at Symmes Valley High School.
