Bears Drop Series Opener

Shawnee State traveled to Mount Vernon, Georgia, to open a three-game series against the Barons of Brewton-Parker College. The Bears fell to the Barons, who took the first game of the series in a 13-4.

The Bears fell behind early after the first inning when the Barons would figure Kyle Wisniewski out and put six runs on the board. That would be quickly answered by the Bears when the top of the second inning came around. Tanner Lund would start the rally off with a single bringing Roberto Bavis to the plate wasting no time at all making contact with the ball and driving it over the right-field fence for his first home run of the year. Shawnee would find the board again the next inning tallying two more runs, putting the score at 4-6, with the Bear heating up. After Wisniewski, Drew Lowe would come in to keep the Bear's hopes alive and he would do just that. Lowe would come in and throw three scoreless innings but the Barons would jump on the board again while holding the Bear's offense at bay for the remainder of the game, making it final at 13-4.

The Bears will be back in action tomorrow afternoon with the first pitch being at 1 PM and a second game to follow.
