The Mid South Conference announced the season awards for Men's Basketball. The SSU Men's Basketball team was well represented, with multiple all-conference awards, a champion of character recipient, and two Academic All-Conference awards.
Miles Thomas, a senior from Chattanooga, TN, has been named to the First Team All-Conference. Thomas leads the team in scoring with 462 points, averaging 16.5 points per game. He leads the team in steals with 40, while averaging 4.4 rebounds per game. He is looking to add to those totals tonight when the Bears take on the University of Tennessee Southern.
Amier Gilmore, a junior from Eastpointe MI, received Mid-South Conference honorable mention. Gilmore impacts the game in every aspect. He leads the team in rebounds with 189 for a 7.6 average. He is second on the team in assists with 58, and is scoring just under 10 points per game while shooting 49% from the field.
Not only has the SSU Men's Basketball program been performing on the court, they have also showcased their performance in the classroom and on campus. Markus Geldenhuys and Tre Beard were both Academic All-Conference recipients. Geldenhuys, a junior from Pretoria, South Africa, is an exercise science major, currently holding a 3.5 GPA. Beard, who is a sophomore from Chillicothe Ohio, is a Business Administration major, currently holding a 3.5 GPA. Along with these Academic honors, Issac Abergut, a junior from Melbourne Australia has been named to the Mid-South Conference Champions of Character team.
The Bears take on the University of Tennessee Southern on Saturday, February 26th at 6:30 PM, ET. This Mid-South Conference game will be played in Bowling Green, KY and tickets can be purchased from the link below!
