Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bears Fall to 14th Ranked Knights

Coming off a strong performance against the University of St. Francis, the Bears would face off against Marian University in their second matchup of the Crossroads-MSC Classic. After a strong first-half performance, Shawnee would fall to the Cougar's second-half surge, 72-67.

The lead would swap several times in the first ten minutes before the Bear's three-point shooting would give them an edge. Strong guard play from Tre Baumgardner III, Brandon Beavers, and Jaden Guice saw the Bears shoot 50% from outside of the arc while providing 26 of the team's 38 points at the half. Shawnee would carry a four-point lead into the half, seeing off a late charge from Marian, 38-34.

Opening the half, the Bear's shooting began to cool down, but Latavious Mitchell and company would keep the game within striking distance. The lead continued to change hands until the Cougars went on an 8-0 run with under ten minutes left. With such fine margins, that lead proved to be too much to overcome and the Bears would fall, 72-67.

  • Double-digit scoring for Baumgardner III, Mitchell, Guice, and Beavers
  • 40 total rebounds

Shawnee will begin one of its longest road stretches of the year, first traveling to Bethel University. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on November 17th.
