After a disappointing performance in their last game, the Shawnee State women's soccer team would look to bounce back against Freed-Hardeman. After a goalless first half, the Bears would prove too vital, scoring three second-half goals to Lion's one.
Shawnee would look sluggish in the first half, allowing the Lions to possess the ball for more extended periods of time, but they would ultimately not let anything too dangerous near the goal. As for the Bear's offense, three shots in the first half would do no justice to the shots that Madison Culp and Amanda Silva would both produce, hitting the post and crossbar respectively. Both teams would combine for only seven first-half shots and the score would be deadlocked going into the half, 0-0.
Coach Ademakinwa's halftime talk must have struck a chord with Madison Humble, who would score two goals within the 57th minute of the second half. First, she would find herself on the end of a cross from Rumeysa Akkus, which she would send past the keeper. Her second goal was more highlight-worthy, scoring a curling ball from the top left side of the box, over twenty yards away from the net. The Lions would pull one back in the 62nd minute, but Robyn Drinkwater would be sure that the game was won, scoring a freekick from a long distance.
- Two goals for Humble
- One Assist for Akkus
- Four saves for Leonie Heck
The Bears will be happy to come away with another conference victory, but they will have little time to recover before playing again on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CST at Bethel University.
