Bears sit 10th following opening day of MSC Championship

The men's golf program at Shawnee State shot a 319 on the opening day of the Mid-South Conference Championships to sit 10th overall following the opening day of competition at the Bowling Green Country Club in Bowling Green, Ky. Monday afternoon.

BJ Knox, who shot a six-over 78 on the afternoon, led the Bears with his 29th place showing on the opening day of competition in the 59-golfer field. Steven Zimmerman, who notched a 33rd place effort on Day 1, shot a seven-over 79 to join Knox in shooting a round under 80.

Elijah McCarty, Jordan Hughes and Patrick England all shot identical rounds Monday afternoon, posting nine-over 81s to sit in 42nd place in the field. Austin Barta, competing as an individual for Shawnee State, shot an 83 to round out SSU's efforts on the links.

Shawnee State will be back in action Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon for Day 2 and 3 of the Mid-South Conference Championship in Bowling Green.
