Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

SSU spreads wealth around over FHU, wins 4-0

The women's soccer program at Shawnee State posted another outstanding effort Sunday afternoon, with Shelbi Ritchie making six saves and leading the Bears to their third shutout in four games while Alex Raudier, Madison Culp, Abby Yazdani, and Eilidh Mchattie added in goals in a 4-0 victory over Freed-Hardeman in a Mid-South Conference contest held in Henderson, Tenn.

In winning its third game over its last four outings, Shawnee State improved to an 8-5 overall record while moving the needle to .500 in MSC play at 5-5 overall. The Bears outshot the Lions by a 15-10 margin and held a 11-6 edge in shots on goal in the contest.

Ritchie continues strong form down stretch of season

Aided by a strong effort by the Shawnee State defense, Shelbi Ritchie continued to build on a solid freshman season with her work in goal.

In defending the goal successfully with her six stops, Ritchie now has 30 saves over her last three games. The freshman from Talcum, Ky. has won seven of the 12 games that she's started inside the posts.

Raudier adds first goal for second Sunday in a row

Just like last Sunday's Senior Day win over Life (Ga.), Alex Raudier's blast proved to be huge in breaking the ice against Freed-Hardeman.

Originally having just one goal over the first 14 games of her college career while primarily playing on the backline, Raudier now has three goals over her last four games to head up the Bears' output offensively since that time.

Yazdani, Culp, Mchattie make second half magical

Led by the play of Abby Yazdani, Shawnee State was able to capitalize on its opportunities throughout the second half as Yazdani, Madison Culp, and Eilidh Mchattie all scored within a 15-minute span from the 58th to 73rd minute of play.

Yazdani, who had one goal and one assist through the first 22 games of her college career, assisted on a 58th minute goal by Culp, then scored on her own creativity in the 69th to push the Bears' lead to a 3-0 margin in a span of 11 minutes. The Albany, Ohio native is now third on the team in points, with nine, and has two goals and two assists over her last three games of action.

With her 58th minute salvo, Culp notched the third goal of her young career through her 13-game freshman campaign to date and now has eight points in all, while Mchattie's 73rd minute punch gave the sophomore her third goal of the season and her 11th in all in her 31-game career so far at SSU. She has 33 points to her name with the Bears.
