The women's basketball program at Shawnee State put four players in double-figures, including a team-high 20 points from Brandie Snow, but failed to claim victory as the Bears fell to Lindsey Wilson by a 84-71 margin on Saturday afternoon at Waller Gymnasium in Portsmouth.

For the contest, Shawnee State (22-4, 9-3 MSC) shot 53.8 percent from the floor (30-of-72) and held Lindsey Wilson (21-4, 10-2 MSC) to a 41.7 percent shooting mark from the floor, but were outrebounded by a 33-25 mark and committed 21 turnovers as a unit in the loss.

The opening six-and-a-half minutes of the contest proved to be Shawnee State's best of the contest as the Bears gradually built their lead to a double-digit margin.

Pride's low-post positioning, coupled with her ability to run the floor, allowed SSU to take a 19-9 advantage as Pride went a perfect 5-of-5 from the field en route to scoring 11 of those tallies. Cummins added in eight points on her own accord as SSU held off a late Lindsey Wilson charge to claim a 21-18 lead after the opening quarter of action.

As the game went on, the fast-paced affair proved to play to Lindsey Wilson's advantage, with the Blue Raiders going on a 19-8 push over the quarter's first 7:08 to take a 37-30 lead. Shawnee State, however, obtained two Sydney King treys to cut the deficit to a 41-38 count at the halftime intermission.

In the second half, Shawnee State outshot Lindsey Wilson from a percentage standpoint for the second straight half by holding the Blue Raiders to 39.5 percent from the floor in the second half of competition while shooting 48.3 percent for the second half.

However, the Bears lost the battle on the glass by a 20-14 margin in the second half, and after committing 12 turnovers in the first half, were forced into nine additional miscues in the second half -- all while collecting just nine assists.

Lindsey Wilson, meanwhile, posted 17 assists to just nine turnovers, while each of its six scoring hands -- DeAsia Outlaw, Maleigha Oldham, Jynea Harris, Reagan Turner, J'Nayah Hall, and Rose Mary Jackson -- all posted six points or more. Shawnee State rallied from a 62-48 deficit to trim Lindsey Wilson's lead to a 73-66 margin behind 18 second-half points from Snow, but couldn't cut the lead any closer in the loss.

In addition to her 20 points, Snow posted five rebounds and two steals in a team-high 36 minutes, while Pride and Cummins posted 15 points apiece for the Bears. King's 12 points, six rebounds and four assists rounded out the main contributors.

Shawnee State will go on its final pair of road trips in Mid-South Conference action this coming week as the Bears play Life (Ga.) on Thursday evening at 6 p.m., followed by a contest at Cumberland (Tenn.) at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT.
