Shawnee State junior Leah Wingeier talks about how passionate her teammates and coaches are, the success of the women's basketball program, and what she and her teammates hope to do over the balance of the season on this Quick :60 version!
Wingeier, a junior forward from Newark, played basketball and volleyball for the Newark Lady 'Cats, notching 103 kills and 75 total blocks, including 52 solo denials, as a senior in 2016. She helped lead Newark to two OHSAA Division I Final Four appearances in a three-span span between her sophomore and senior years, with the Lady 'Cats obtaining OHSAA Division I Final Four appearances in 2014-15 and 2016-17. Wingeier helped lead Newark to a 95-14 overall record over her four seasons inside the program.
At Shawnee State, Wingeier's served Shawnee State well as a change-of-pace post player who can create matchup problems in the halfcourt with her size. She was an Academic All-MSC recipient last year as a sophomore.
