Campbellsville, Ky. – Shawnee State Baseball opened up their conference series with the Campbellsville Tigers Friday afternoon by dropping game one 10-3.
Game One:

Ryan Lambert (FR/Greenup, Kentucky) would get the start on the bump in game one for the Bears Friday evening. Lambert would go five innings for the Bears allowing eight runs on ten hits with one strikeout as well. Dylan Payne (SO/Columbus, Ohio) would be first in relief and would provide them with two and one third innings allowing two runs on four hits with four walks and three strikeouts to complete his outing. Nick Kaiser (JR/Garrettsville, Ohio) would be called upon in the bottom half of the eighth inning and would get the Bears out of a jam when they needed him to with a total of five pitches. Kaiser would allow no runs on no hits with one strikeout. The damage was already done however as the Bears would not be able to mount a come back in the top half of the ninth inning, they would go onto drop game one of their three game series to the Tigers.
Dalton Phillips (SR/Hastings, Michigan) would finally get the Bears on the board in the top half of the third inning. A Phillips double to center field scored Tony Nichols who was put into the game to pinch run for Alex Medina (SR/Miami, Florida) who reached base earlier in the inning on a hit by pitch. The Bears would bring across another run in the top half of the fourth inning when Danny McGuire (SO/Cleveland, Ohio) would single to right field to bring home Seth Clement (SO/Kissimmee, Florida) who lead off the inning with a single of his own. The Bears scored their final run of the game the following inning when Phillips would come up and double again to bring home Christian Helton (SR/Lexington, Kentucky).
Notable Moments:
- Dalton Phillips would lead the Bears offensively with two doubles, two RBI's, and a walk on the day.
- Nick Kaiser would have a short but solid outing by delivering for the Bears on the mound when they needed him to.
- Alex Medina would have a solid day behind the plate by throwing out two base runners on steal attempts as well as not having any passed balls on the day.
